この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。

ーMy husband and I are planning to go home for a visit for two weeks in the middle of May.
「主人と私は5月半ばに2週間一時帰国する予定です」
to go home for a visit で「一時帰国する」と言えます。

ーMy husband and I are returning to Japan for a two week visit around the middle of May.
「主人と私は5月半ばに2週間一時帰国します」
to return to Japan for a visit で「日本に一時帰国する」と言えます。

・go back to my home country「母国へ帰る（一時帰国する）」

　一時帰国の場合は、ただ go back（帰る）と言うよりも home country（母国）という言葉を添えることで、自分の国へ戻るニュアンスがはっきり伝わります。
