Please could I get some extra bags to gift to friends?
Would it be possible to get some extra bags to gift to my friends?
As some stores may not like to give out excessive amounts of bags without additional purchases being made, it would be best to explain that you would like to 'give them as gifts' or 'gift them' to friends. This is a great opportunity for the store to promote their brand so hopefully they will be happy to do so.
In the UK, a new law recently came into effect, that means every plastic carrier bag a customer needs in a shop that sells food, is charged at 5p each. Larger plastic bags cost 10p each. In some small stores or market stalls bags are still free, but larger supermarkets all charge. Clothes and shoe shops still continue to give them out for free, but it has become standard practice for store clerks in these shops to ask if you would like a bag first before giving you it. This law was created to help reduce plastic waste in the UK that is produced from discarded carrier bags.

May I please have some extra gift bags? A medium size would be fine.
We use the word "extra" when we already have one or more of the same item in our possession already. So when you ask if you can have some extra bags, you already have a few. If you so please, you could also specify the size of the bags you would like. You could then just use my third example where I added the size of the bags. You can replace "medium"with either "small" or "large".
When wanting to ask for extra bags at the store to take home you can use any of the above two sentences.
Examples;
- Can I please get some more small gift bags to take home?
