昔と今は違うって英語でなんて言うの？

大統領選で ある候補に入れたら、いまある貧富の差が解消されますよと言われていますが、昔と今は世の中の仕組みが違うのでそうはなりませんよね。っていう場合の昔と今は違う　はどう言うのでしょうか？

「今と昔は違う」という場合、
S Be different from what S' was. 
が使われます。
