close the shop: 閉店 as long as~: ~である限り we have customers in the shop: お店にお客さんがいる We only close after the customers have left.

there is/are ... keep ...

「ーな限り」As long as ... As far as I know= 僕の知っている限り(僕の知る範疇では) 例 As long as you are here=君がここにいる限り(僕がここにいるなら=条件)

1. Obviously these people would not wish to be confined inside the shop. the usual manner is to stand at the entrance so you may inform anyone trying to enter that the shop is now closing. "Sorry, the shop is about to close." 2. Yes, this is against the law: "Help! Someone locked us in the shop! Call the police!"
Sorry, the shop is about to close." "Help! Someone locked us in the shop! Call the police!"

This means that this is coming policy that means that if you have customers in the shop you cannot close doors. As long as means provided that. For example:As long as I've got my boots on, I might as well go out and get the firewood.
As long as I've got my boots on, I might as well go out and get the firewood.

  • While customers remain on the premises, we are obliged to stay open and work on !

In this case it seems the shop staff has a duty to work, until the last customer leaves the premises...(Quite an unusual state of affairs...) We might advise the new staff member of the rues ...like this: "While customers remain on the premises, we are obliged to stay open and work on!
例文 "While customers remain on the premises, we are obliged to stay open and work on!

To stress the importance of something one might say that something is of paramount importance. You may also say 'I cannot stress enough how important ... is' In referring to the noun I made use of in the final example ' policy' suggests that something is an important principle adopted by an organization or person.

If there are customers here, then we are here. - This means that you do not leave till the customers are all out of the store. This is a little bit abrupt and would usually follow something like Q: It's 7.45, what time are we closing the store? A: If there are customers here, then we are here. The best way to say this to a new employee would be: ''We cannot close the shop while we still have customers.''
If there are customers here, then we are here. Q: It's 7.45, what time are we closing the store?(7時45分です、何時に閉めますか) A: If there are customers here, then we are here.(お客さんがいなくなるまでは帰れません) 新人従業員に伝える言い方としては: ''We cannot close the shop while we still have customers.''
