動揺して～できないって英語でなんて言うの？

「動揺して読み進められない」として表現しました。 「読み進める」は "read further" や "read more" と表します。"further" は "far(遠くに、へ)" の比較級で、「(程度が)それ以上に」という意味です。もう一つの比較級 "farther" は「(距離的に)さらに遠くへ、先に」となります。 「動揺して」は "be upset" や "be disturbed" と表現できます。他にも"be shocked" や "be distressed"(悪いニュースなどに) などがあります。 "too A to B" 「あまりにAなのでBできない、BするにはあまりにAである」、"so A that B" は「あまりにAなのでBである、BであるほどAである」となります。 どちらも同じ意味で使うことができ、会話よりも文中で使われることが多い表現です。

動揺して – become upset できない – I couldn’t 子供に「しまじろう、どうぶつえんにいく」の絵本を読みきかせしてる最中に 『えっ、この世界では服を着て歩ける身分の動物と、動物園で観賞される身分の動物がいるってこと？』と疑問を持ってしまい、動揺して読み進められなくなった I was reading a book to my child about a child who goes to the zoo. As I was reading the book, my child asked me, “Are there animals who can walk around with clothes, and other animals that have to stay in the zoo?” I became upset/distressed by this question that I couldn’t continue to read the book any further.

be disturbed＝「動揺する、心がかき乱される」 so～that…＝～なので…だ further＝「さらに、それ以上」 I was so disturbed by the story that I could not read further. 「私はそのストーリーに動揺して、読み進めることが出来なかった」 ご参考まで
