a buffetとは、食べ放題のレストランやサービスのことを指します。
We often refer to 食べ放題 as "all-you-can-eat" or "AYCE". The style of "buffet" or バイキング is when all food is prepared and people can choose it freely. "Made-to-order" buffet is when you can eat as much as you'd like, but you must order it and wait for the food to be prepared.
An "all you can eat," restaurant is a place where you can eat as much as you want for a fixed price and there is no limit to how much you can eat. We might also call this a buffet, where the put is put own in large trays for you to make and serve your own plate of food and eat as much as you would like.
