日常会話で言いそうな感じのを3種類あげてみました。でもこれ以外にもまだまだあると思います。
★ 訳
(1) 「それはまだ人気だけど、前ほどではないな」
(2) 「それはまだ人気だけど、以前と同じくらい人気ではないな」
(3) 「みんなまだそれが好きだけど、以前と同じくらい好きではないね」
★ 解説
・「前」
(1) と (2) で共通しているのは、「前」を表す表現の使い方です。before でも it used to be でもOKです。it used to be が be で終わっているのは、文の主な部分が it is still popular のように be 動詞を使っているからです。省略されているものを書くと it used to be popular となります。ただしこの be は省略しても意味が分かるので、なくても大丈夫です。
では (3) のときはどうかというと、主語が人々で動詞 like が使われているので before の代わりに used to を使うのであれば、 they used to (do) となります。
・「〜ほど」「比べて」
(1)
quite は色んな意味を持っていますが very と同じように「非常に、かなり」という意味を持っています。これらのような語句が否定語とともに使われると「そんなに」という意味になります。
これを理解した上で、省略されているものも含めて書くと次のようになります。なお、like は「〜のような、に」を表す前置詞です。
not quite popular like before「以前のような人気がない」
(2) (3)
これらは原級を用いた比較表現を否定にしたものです。これもまた「〜ほど…ではない」という意味になります。
(3) では much を使っていますが、それは動詞 like を強調するのに much がよく使われるからです。
例) I like her so much! 「彼女いいね！」
そのため not as much as before で、「以前ほどたくさん(好き)ではない」という意味になります。

less thanは「～より少ない」や「～未満」という意味で、不加算名詞につきます。同様にfewer thanも同じ意味ですが、可算名詞につきます。

人は通常年をとるにつれて友人が少なくなる。
In order to explain that a topic is not as popular as it once was you can say "This topic is past its peak point". This explains that at one time, this topic was very popular, but is now something which is not discussed as much. It most likely is not discussed as much anymore as its not as relevant.
あるトピックが以前ほど人気でないことを説明するなら、
"This topic is past its peak point"（このトピックはピークを過ぎている）
