説明は英語で demonstrate, explain, あるいは describeと言います。何かの[事情](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/62116/)を説明する場合 explanationを使います。例えば Explain the cause of the problem（問題の原因を説明する）。
商品や機械の説の場合、describe又はdemonstrateと言います。Describeは単に商品や機械の[詳細](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/36277/)を説明する時に使いますます。例えば Describe the strong points of the item（商品の長所を説明する）。
Demonstrateは使い方などを説明して[使い方](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/43979/)を見せる時に使います。例えば Demonstrate how to use the new vacuum cleaner（新しい掃除機の使い方を見せる）。

上の三つの中で「run-down」が「explanation」と「description」より失礼な話し方だから気をつけてください。
