During hot summer days, many people enjoy the alternative to ice cream which is ice with fruit juice called a snow cone or shaved ice.
Shaved ice generally is more finely cut so that it is thin and soft almost like soft snow.
A snow cone has larger ice pieces put together into a ball shape and served in a paper corn.
Both versions have fruit juice to add flavor.

So you made the best of the situation and nibbled on the shavings. But the juice from the cone was still the best.
