The words "acclaimed", "notable" and "distinguished" are all synonyms of the word "famous"
Here are some examples of their use:-

Renowned means well-known famous, celebrated, famed, eminent, distinguished or
acclaimed...but as ever in English there are phrases that are well established in the language;-) one such phrase is " Known the world over!"
