「lately」「recently」「these days」主にこの三つが「最近」を表す英単語として用いられます。
「lately」は過去の時点から始まって、今でも続いている事柄に使えます。
例文：What have you been up to lately?
訳 ：最近(近頃)は何してたの?
例文：Are you into anything lately?
訳 ：最近は何にハマってるの？
「recently」は特定の出来事を示すときに使われます。
例文：He got married recently.
訳 ：彼は最近結婚した。
例文：He recently bought a nice house in Tokyo.
訳 ：彼は最近東京で良い物件(良い家)を買った。
「these days」は過去と何かしら対比をして、現在の様子を説明するときに使います。
例文：I have a poor appetite these days.
訳 ：最近食欲がない。
例文：I am very busy these days.
訳 ：この頃、私はとても忙しい。
例文：These days, I don't know what to do on the weekend.
訳：この頃、私は週末に何をすれば良いかわかりません。
最近は英語で lately, recently, these daysと言います。
These daysはだいたい年上や年配の方が使います。最近のことや状況を悲観的に言う時によく使います。例えば、Kids these days have no manners（最近の若者は礼儀がない）。このように these daysは日本語の「この頃」のように聞こえます。
Recentlyは少し堅めで普通の会話よりプレゼンやニュースの方で聞きます。例えば We've recently seen a shift in U.S. economic policy（ここ最近、米経済政策に変化が見えました）。
会話であれば latelyが一番普通です。「最近ハマっていることある？」と聞きたいなら、Are you into anything lately? が一つの言い方です。
