Extremely cold weather is usually weather that is below zero degrees. Very cold weather is usually described as "extremely cold" or "freezing cold". Today is freezing cold. I see snow coming down outside. I don't like extremely cold weather, so I wouldn't move to a city like London where it is extremely cold and wet.
【例】 "Today is freezing cold. I see snow coming down outside." 外は雪が降っているのが見えます) "I don't like extremely cold weather, so I wouldn't move to a city like London where it is extremely cold and wet."

It is very common for British weather to be freezing cold! When a temperature is freezing, it normally refers to zero degrees Celsius because that is the temperature that water freezes. But when the weather is really cold, it is common to use the following phrases in the U.K: It's absolutely freezing! Here absolutely is an adjective for 'really' or 'very' This emphasizes just how cold it is. You can also say: Its ice cold today! That again would refer to how cold the temperature is. The weather is freezing! This phrases definitely refers to British weather at the moment! I hope that helps
t's absolutely freezing! Its ice cold today! The weather is freezing!

Well, 'freezing' is the typical word used although in a prolonged period of cold weather it may become a bit of a cliche with the whole world complaining about 'freezing weather.' A variation when describing the conditions could be as in the first sentence: "Better put on your thick gloves - it's bitterly cold outside!"
状況を説明する様々な表現として、 最初の文のように “Better put on your thick gloves – it’s bitterly cold outside!”

Most people have experienced really cold temperatures, depending on where you live. For some people, they are used to temperatures below 0 degrees celsius like in the USA and Canada. For Western Europeans, it doesn't usually get as cold as it would do in Canada or the USA but we still find it very cold in the winter. "It's bone-chilling outside!": This sentence explains that it is so cold that you can feel your bones getting cold as well. The cold is actually penetrating your skin. "It's bitterly cold tonight!": is another way of saying that it is intensely cold. You definitely don't want to leave the house without a good jacket, gloves or a scarf.
