water resistant=水に強い、水に耐性がある
注意＊waterproof=water resistantと使われる場合も多いです。
water repellent=完全防水ではないがを弾くコーティングがあるもの（スキーウェア等）
Resistantは耐性があるだから結構使い回しが出来ます。
Fire resistant=火に耐性がある
Wind resistant=風に耐性がある
Splash proof - will still work if the item gets splashed by water.
Water resistant - item is able to resist the penetration of water to some degree.
Water proof - the item will not be damaged in any way if submerged in water.
Waterproof means that something will not be damaged at all by water whereas water resistant means that they will not allow alot of water in but if it rains heavily it might be slightly affected and let a little water in
「防水対応」は water resistance や water proofing と言います。これは名詞です。
「この携帯が防水だ」と言いたいなら This phone is waterproof/water resistant と言います。
Waterproof と water resistant は若干違います。Waterproof の方が強いです。例えば、プールに投げ込んでも壊れないというイメージです。Water resistant は例えば雨に降られても壊れないけど、水の中に入れたら壊れるというイメージです。
