「時代」は「era」か「period」か「times」といいます。「平安時代」などの「時代」は「era」か「period」になります。「times」は「今の時代」のようなフレーズで使われています。

今はとても豊かで良い時代です。

時代は era または period と翻訳できます。これらの2つの単語はしばしば同じ意味で使用されます。

基本的に、「時代」の意味は”time period”です。"Time”を抜いても大丈夫です。
今の時代 = current times, current period, current time period, present times

日本歴史の時代の場合、一般の方は日常会話では、”period”と”era”を互換的に使いますが、細かい違いがあります。
両方の和訳は「時代」ですが、日本の歴史でしたら、統一の天皇陛下様がいる各時代は”era”です。そのため、例えば、明治と令和は”Meiji era”と”Reiwa era”です。
複数な天皇陛下がいる時代は”period”です。例えば、江戸時代は”Edo period”です。
