Attend というのは「参加する」で、cannot attend は「参加できません」。
「その日は仕事が早退できないから、パーティーの開始に間に合わないと思います」「それでも(参加するつもりで)いいですか？」→ I can't get off early from work on that day, so I will be late to the party.
「それでも(参加するつもりで)いいですか？」→ Is that alright? Can I still attend, (even if I am late?)
「それじゃまずいですよね？」→ Is that bad? ／ Is that not good?

take the day off で「休みを取る」ことを伝えることができます。
