You can ask someone how they want a specific drink by asking "How do you like your (drink name)". For example, "How do you like your whisky?". They may answer with words such as "neat", "straight", or "on the rocks".

If you want to know what kind of alcoholic drinks they generally like, you may ask "What do you like to drink?".
"How do you like your (drink name)"

例えば、 "How do you like your whisky?"(ウイスキーをどうされますか?)

"What do you like to drink?"

  • Do you like your drink served in a particular way?

  • How do you like to drink it?

If you want to be a little formal with the question then you can politely ask someone how they like their drink to be served. If its an informal occasion, i.e. with friends or relatives you can simply ask the person how they like to drink it. "It"in this instance is the pronoun for the alcoholic beverage they desire.

  • How do you usually drink your whiskey?

If you are a bartender and someone asks you for a whiskey and you want to know how they want it served you can say : How would you like it? - this implies that you are asking if they want it straight (no mixer), with ice, without ice, with water, etc.

Example:
A: Can I have a Jameson please?
B: Sure sir, how would you like it?
A: Just the way it is, thanks.

''Just the way it is'' means you do not want anything added to it.
How would you like it?
「straight (ストレート)」「with ice(氷あり)」「without ice(氷無し)」「with water(水割り)」

A: Can I have a Jameson please?
B: Sure sir, how would you like it?
A: Just the way it is, thanks.

「Just the way it is(そのままで)」は、それに何も足さないで欲しいという意味です。

  • How do you normally drink (alcohol)?

"How" is the best question word to ask about their preferences because you want the listener to describe the way in which they prepare their drink. At the end of the sentence, you can all in what type of alcohol or drink you want to ask about.

I hope that you helps :)

If you are serving someone a short - whisky or gin, for example, then either of the above questions is appropriate.
"I like it on the rocks." (with ice)
"As it comes." (nothing added)

"I like it on the rocks." (with ice)

"As it comes." (nothing added)

  • How do you like your (whiskey, rum, etc.)?

Asking someone how they take their liquor will let them explain what they drink and what style of preparation they prefer. Asking someone how you want them to prepare their drink will make sure they get the style they want. Asking simply how someone likes their (insert type of alcohol) will have the same result.
How do you take your liquor?

How do you want me to prepare your drink?

How do you like your (whiskey, rum, etc.)?

Different drinks can be served in different ways so for example a gin and tonic can have ice and or lemon served in it so some people might want or not want lemon in theirs so you would ask
'how do you take your gin and tonic?'

'How do you take your gin and tonic?'
