Usually small children refer to their fathers as 'Daddy', and children over the age of 10/11 call their fathers 'Dad'.
The origin of 'Daddy' comes from one of the first syllables that English speaking children can say which is 'da', and often 'dada' is a English speaking child's first word.
Many times, a child will not call their male parent, "Father" if they have a friendly relationship with him.
Some of the other nicknames could be things such as:
1) Dad
2) Daddy
3) Dada
When we use "Dad", it is friendly but still a little more of a title or a little more formal. The names such as "Daddy" and "Dada" are very informal names and many times are used by younger children.
Da: This is used very often in Ireland. I am not sure if it used commonly outside of Ireland. It is a very casual, shortened version of Daddy.
Dada: This is more for a toddler learning to talk. Kids usually stop saying this when they learn to say 'Dad' or 'Daddy'.
Dad: This is the one that I use and the most common in my opinion. It is a shortened version of 'Daddy'.
A casual way to call your father "papa" in English, you can say "dad", "daddy", "pops" and "papa".
For example:
-Daddy, can I please have a $100
-Papa, what are you getting me for Christmas.
-Dad, I love you.
-I love you pops.
