お会計はいくらですかって英語でなんて言うの？

When at a restaurant, you can raise your hand to get the attention of the waiter / waitress. When they come you can ask: I've finished my meal, please can I have the bill? Or, you might approach a waiter / waitress and inform them that you have finished your meal and now wish to pay.

the 'check' and 'bill' are the same, both have the same meaning and both can be used. "may I" opposed to "can i" is a more formal and politer way of asking 'Can I".

Usually, waiters/waitresses at restaurants do not bring you the bill after you have finished eating unless you ask for it. In fact, some people do not completely finish their food, thereby making the waiter doubtful if the customer is done with eating or not. Usually, waiters bring the bill after they have cleared the table or the customer has asked for it. The reason is that sometimes, the customer does order a drink or two after finishing eating. It is always extremely important to be as polite as possible by adding the adverb 'please' when asking for your bill/check. The verbs 'settle' and 'pay' are interchangeable. So, you may say to the waiter/waitress: May I please have the bill? or I am ready to settle my bill now. May I please have it? or Is my bill ready? I would like to pay for it please.

When we are done eating and ready to pay for the food we have consumed, we then ask the waiter or waitress for our bill so that we can see how much we are owing to the restaurant for the meal. To be polite in our speech, we must remember to always use the word 'please'.

Either of the above suggestions are common and polite ways of requesting your bill at the end of a meal.
