There are many many nicknames you can use for both male and female friends. I personally use dude a lot with my female friends and even sometimes mate.
Dear/Lovely/Honey are all good as well.
It depends on the person and your relationship with them to some extent.

Depending on your relationship with that person depends what you can call them. Sometimes in a friendship group you may all refer to each other as the same thing e.g. "honey". Also, within friendship groups there are often nicknames that you use for each particular person.
"Mate", "buddy" and "bro" are often used amongst guys and very rarely used for girls however this is not incorrect.
"Dear" and "lovely" are used often within the older generation.
1. As a joke, I have called my girl friend (who is only a friend) 'chicken.' It is funny and seems OK :-) But it is not normal.
2. 'Maid' is used in Cornwall, south west England as a name for girls or women.
3. 'Hen' is used in Scotland as a friendly name for girls or women.
"Girl friends can be referred to as "Dudette", "Pal","chick" or "babe"
"Hey Dudette" is a greeting
"She's my pal" pal means friend.
"I'm going out with the chicks tonight."
"Hey babe" can be a greeting but "babe" can also be an endearing nickname for someone you are dating.
Australians use "mate" for both girls and boys
