シリーズは簡単に「series」で訳します。

作品の直訳はcreating, productsですが、
映画、本の場合はpartと言います。
もしドラマだと、「episode」と言います。
ちなみに、ドラマは英語で言うと「drama」ではなく、TV Showです。

This series has six parts in total.

Sequel:When a movies is broadcasted in more that 1 part. It is called a sequel.

Sequel:映画が何部作にも分かれている場合、a sequelといいます。

*season=テレビはラジオ番組などのシーズンを意味します。
シリーズと同義です。
日本語では代わりにクールが使われますね。
*episode=テレビやラジオ番組のシリーズの１つの話、エピソード。
テレビドラマはシリーズは、10個のエピソードから成っています。

A. Are you going to see the new Avengers film?
B. Yes, I've already reserved a spot for the midnight showing. Are you going?

sequels -映画の続編のことです。

In terms of a film, we would say:"It's a series of 6 films." Or you could say that there is "a sequence of 6 films."
If we are talking about something else, then you may talk about what the whole thing is "comprised of."
"This apartment is comprised of 2 living rooms, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen."
「"It's a series of 6 films."」と言えます。または、 "a sequence of 6 films."と言うことができます。

However common /every day language has deemed that " A 6-part series"
would be more easily understood.
"trilogy"は3部作になります、それ以上はちょっと混乱しますよね:-)

しかしながら、一般的に毎日使う言葉は " 6-part series"
（6部作）の方が簡単に理解されやすいと思われます。
If I understand you correctly, this one series has 6 parts in total. Each of the 6 parts contributes to the series. The noun 'series' has several meanings, but, in this context, it means 'a set or sequence of related television or radio programmes'.
So, you may say:
The series has 6 parts in total.
or
He is now working on a 6 part TV series.

If you want to example that movie you are watching has six parts, then you can say one of these two sentences.
For example.

We can talk about the series by saying that it has 6 parts or 6 episodes or even 6 movies if its the case that they are indeed movies. We can also change the word, "series," to, "stories," because the 6 parts are related and altogether tell the entire story of what happened.
