  • I thought you didn't like to have your picture taken.

  • I thought you didn't like taking pictures.

「あなたは写真撮られるの好きじゃないと思っていた」は 'I thought you didn't like to have your picture taken.' 「写真を撮られるの」は 'to have your picture taken' 他の言い方で 'I thought you didn't like taking pictures.'

「ごめん、あなたは写真撮られるのが好きじゃないと思ってた*から」 "Sorry, I thought you didn't like getting your pictures taken" など *からはもう表現に含まれてるので英訳不要。

  • Sorry but I thought you didn't like taking pictures

  • I thought you did not like to be photographed

When you want to explain to someone that you are surprised that they want to take pictures with you because you thought they did not like to be photographed; then you may explain this in the following ways: -Sorry but I thought you didn't like taking pictures -I thought you did not like to be photographed
-Sorry but I thought you didn't like taking pictures(ごめんなさい、写真を撮られるのが嫌いだと思っていました) -I thought you did not like to be photographed(写真を撮られるのが嫌いだと思っていました)

  • I'm sorry, I was under the impression you didn't like being photographed.

  • I'm sorry, I thought you didn't like being photographed.

  • Sorry, I thought you didn't like having your picture taken.

In this scenario, "photographed" and "having your picture taken" are both appropriate. This is a great sentence when someone is asking you why you are never photographed together. You can simply apologize and assure them that you were unaware that they enjoyed having their photo taken. Some people do not like being photographed, hence the confusion. Be aware of intonation when making this statement. At times, it could come off as being sarcastic.

When talking about taking a photograph we can also refer to this as a 'photo' or 'picture' by saying sorry you are being polite and apologised so as not to be rude when talking about having a photo of them you would say 'your photo being taken'

  • Sorry, I didn't think you liked being in pictures.

  • I always thought you were camera-shy!

  • I didn't know you liked being in pictures!

If my friend said that he or she wanted to take more pictures with me, but I wasn't aware that they even liked to be in pictures (and maybe I had been avoiding it because of this), I would say something like: "I didn't know you liked being in pictures!" Another nice way to say this could be: "I always thought you were camera-shy!" Another example could be to say something like: "Sorry, I didn't think you liked being in pictures." I hope this helps! :)
"I didn't know you liked being in pictures!"(写真を撮られるのが好きだって知らなかった) 次のように言うこともできます。 "I always thought you were camera-shy!"(ずっとカメラが苦手だと思っていた) また、次のように言うこともできます。 "Sorry, I didn't think you liked being in pictures."(ごめん、写真を撮られるのが好きでないと思っていた) 参考になれば幸いです!

If a friend says to you that they wish to take more pictures with you, but you thought they didn't like taking pictures, you could say any of the following: "Sorry, I thought you didn't like taking pictures", "Sorry I was under the impression that you didn't like to have your picture taken" or "I thought you didn't like pictures, lets take some!".
"Sorry, I thought you didn't like taking pictures" (ごめん、写真撮るの好きじゃないと思ってた。) "Sorry I was under the impression that you didn't like to have your picture taken" (ごめん、写真撮られるのが好きじゃないと思っていた。) "I thought you didn't like pictures, lets take some!"

  • Sorry, but I thought you were averse to taking pictures

  • I thought taking pictures wasn't your thing

Your impression as that your friend didn't like taking photos...but then they tell you that they want to have a photo with you. As this seems to be a slight contradiction, you want to express your thoughts. Any of the above examples may be appropriate. Form: ..averse to + Verb - ing 'John's averse to swimming' = John doesn't like swimming

  • Sorry, I thought you said you hated having your picture taken because you thought you weren't very photogenic.

Oftentimes, the expression "I hate having my picture taken" means that a person does not want to be included in a picture but would rather be the photographer. He/she may say this along with not being photogenic because pictures of him/her seem to come out unappealing in his/her opinion.

  • Okay, I thought that you didn't like taking pictures though, sorry about that!

  • Sorry, I thought you were shy taking pictures!

Sometimes people don't like taking pictures, because they are shy in front of a camera, they don't like drawing attention to themselves or they don't like the way they look in photos. To describe that you don't look good in photos you can say: I am not very photogenic.
