If the place is super busy we would say that it is "Too crowded". You can also say that there were "no seats available" which implies that you couldn't get a seat or go in. "Too long of a wait' means you didn't want to have to wait for a seat to become available so you left.

These statements suggest that a place is very busy and crammed with people.
For something to be 'Chock-a-block' is implying that it is crammed/full/busy.

'Packed' is also another term used to describe something being very busy.

Above are some suggestions which may be suitable for this kind of conversation. In the UK, we usually talk about getting 'a table' in a restaurant rather than 'a seat'.
