"The shirt is too large." This means that the shirt will not be the right size because it is a larger size than is needed. "The dog is not going to fit into the small hole." This means that the dog is larger than the hole and cannot go inside of the hole. "There is too much food to eat." This means you will not be able to eat all the food because of the large quantity of food.
"The shirt is too large." (シャツが大きすぎる。) これは、シャツが自分のサイズよりも大きく、合ったサイズではないことを意味します。  "The dog is not going to fit into the small hole." (その犬は、小さな穴に入れないだろう。) これは、その犬が穴よりも大きくて、穴の中に入ることができないことを意味します。   "There is too much food to eat." (食べ物がたくさんありすぎる。) これは、食べ物がたくさんありすぎて、全て食べきることができないことを意味します。

"~すぎる" と言いたいときは”too ○○” として○の部分に”~すぎる事柄”を入れて文章をつくることが出来ます。 例えば I made too much food. たくさんご飯を作りすぎた。 The volume is too high. 音量が大きすぎる。 The music is too loud. 音楽がうるさい。(うるさすぎる) となります。

We use different terms when talking about the portion of food and the level of noise. When talking about food, we would use the term - too much When talking about noise, we would use the words - too loud. Examples sentences. "There is too much food for me to eat!" "Do not eat too much for lunch." "The portions at the restaurant are too much for me to eat." "The music is too loud in here." "You are playing your guitar too loud." "You may play the piano, but do not play too loud."
食べ物の量や、音量が大きいことを言うには別の表現になります。 食べ物のときは、 too much(多すぎる)を使います。 音量のときは、 too loud(大きすぎる)を使います。   例文:  "There is too much food for me to eat!" (食べ物が多すぎる!) "Do not eat too much for lunch." (ランチを食べすぎないで。) "The portions at the restaurant are too much for me to eat." (そのレストランの量は、多すぎる。) "The music is too loud in here." (ここの音楽の音が大きすぎる。) "You are playing your guitar too loud." (ギターがうるさいよ。) "You may play the piano, but do not play too loud." (ピアノを弾いてもいいけど、うるさくしないで。)

~すぎると言いたいときは too~で表現できます。 It's big. (これは大きい) It's too big. (これは大きすぎる) 食べ物などの大きさが大きすぎる場合は too much ※数えられない量を表すのでmuchを使います。 This is too much. (これは多すぎる) 音量が大きすぎる場合は too loud The music is too loud for me. (私にはこの音楽は音が大きすぎる/うるさい) 少しでも参考になれば幸いです。

  • You've served too much food.

  • There is a lot of food in the house.

    play icon

:The volume of the TV is too high. >We use the word ''too'' before an adjective (words that describe things) to say that something is more than is wanted. For example, ''You are too loud./ The food is too salty.'' > This has a negative meaning. : There is a lot of food in this house. >You can use the phrase ''a lot of'' to say that there is a great deal (amount or number) of something. Examples: :This is a lot of food. :There are a lot of people in this house. :There is a lot of space in this house.
The volume of the TV is too high. (テレビのボリュームが大きすぎる。) 形容詞の前の ''too''(~すぎる)は、自分が欲しいものよりも多い、大きいことを指します。 例えば、 ''You are too loud.(あなたはうるさすぎる。)/ The food is too salty.''(その食べ物は塩辛すぎる。)などです。これは、ネガティブな意味になります。   There is a lot of food in this house. (この家には食べ物がたくさんある。) ''a lot of''は、あるものがたくさんあることを意味します。  例:  This is a lot of food. (これはたくさんの食べ物だ。)  There are a lot of people in this house. (この家にはたくさんの人がいる。)  There is a lot of space in this house. (この家にはスペールがたくさんある。)

  • The volume is excessive.

If something is too much you can express that in different ways depending on what is being spoken about. "The volume is overbearing! Please turn it down." "The workload is excessive." "The volume is over the top." "The glass of water is too full, it will spill over." Excessive: too much, over the limit Overbearing: unpleasantly overpowering, too much
何かの度合いがすぎることを以下のようにさまざまな表現で言うことができます。   "The volume is overbearing! Please turn it down." (音量に耐えられない!下げてください。) "The workload is excessive." (仕事の量が多すぎる。) "The volume is over the top." (ボリュームが大きい。) "The glass of water is too full, it will spill over." (グラスの水が多すぎるから、こぼれるだろう。)   Excessive: 多すぎる、大きすぎる Overbearing: 度が過ぎること
