「会社を始める」と言う時の「始める」も start を使って言います。
1) My grandfather started this company and now I am the third generation in my family.
「私の祖父がこの会社を始め、私で３代目です。」
「３代目」は third generation と言います。
2) This company was started by my grandfather and now I am the third owner of this company.
「この会社は祖父が始め、私はこの会社の三代目社長です。」
third owner「３番目の所有者」＝「３代目社長」と言えます。
