「徐々に理解してきました。」って英語でなんて言うの？

You understand about the question forms and the positive statements and confirmations - but what happens in the negative forms? Do you have to use an auxiliary verb? Or not? It's rather confusing! I can understand maybe 25% at the moment [use whatever % you understand] 3.I understand this [explain what you do understand] i don't understand this [explain what you don't understand] All three phrases tell the teacher that you do not fully understand what is being said. The most important thing to remember is that you need to be able to communicate effectively. If you don't fully understand everything that has been said then the best option is number 3 as this explains exactly what you can understand and also what the teacher needs to explain again.

Example:- Teacher :- "Do you understand." Student :- "I'm not starting to understand." Teacher:- "OK lets go it over again."

When talking with your on-line English teacher and you need him or her to explain some things a little better, it is good to say: "I'm getting the hang of things I think, but still don't understand everything. Could you explain it to me again". What part of the lesson should we try again?" Student: "I think I need some help with the first 3 vocabulary words, could you explain them to me?" Teacher: "Sure thing! Let's begin!"

In the first line, the adverb 'gradually' has been used, meaning 'slowly'. What you mean to say is that you are slowly beginning to understand it. In the second line, you used the verb to 'begin in its present participle tense 'am beginning' to understand. What you mean to say is that you are not fully understanding it, you are just starting to understand it. In the last line, you used the phrase 'slowly getting' meaning that you are slowly understanding it. In this case, the verb to 'get' has been used in its present participle tense. So, you may say: I am gradually understanding it. or I am beginning to understand it. or I am slowly getting it.

In english to have an idea of something is to not know for certain, but to have a general grasp of understanding. To not understand completely would provide an opportunity to then specify what area you do not understand fully.
