In order to ask your dog if they have been good whilst you were away, you can say:
Have you been a good boy?
Have you been a good girl?
These are the most common phrases and are normally asked many times whilst stroking your dog!

Usually when you leave a dog at home they tend to be too playful and leave the house upside down.
Dogs also like chewing everything for fun.
Therefore when you ask them if they were behaving the whole day you want to know if they didn't do anything you stopped them from doing.

This is a direct way of asking them if they did not do anything naughty that day.
