すみませんですが、この場合ではspallを使えません。spallは「砕ける」の意味があるに違いないですが、わざと砕ける時に使うのが自然です。そして、spallはコップじゃなくて、普通に鉱山の作業や石みたいなものとして使っています。
例文：The rocks were spalled to see if there was gold inside.「中に金があるかどうかを確認するため、石を砕けた。」

pieces は「破片・かけら」で、日常会話でいちばん安全です。
left は「残っている」で、pieces left で「残っている破片」です。
次に、「割った」のニュアンスを強くして「粉々になった」にしたいなら
shatter がピッタリです。

「彼は風呂場でグラスを落として粉々になったけど、破片が残ってなかった。」
