"just because ~ it doesn't mean that" 「～からと言って」
"the culprit" 「犯罪者」
"was given the death penalty" 「死刑で殺された」

"Just because the culprit was given the death penalty doesn't heal the emotional wounds of the bereaved family."
「犯罪者が死刑で殺されたからと言って被害者の遺族の心の傷が癒えることはない」

犯罪者が死刑で殺されたからと言って～
~just because the killer was executed
この場合は日本語の順番と逆になっていますね。
死刑で殺される、は直訳的なto be killed by the death penaltyでも通じますが、
executedやgot the death penaltyの方がよく使われています。
犯罪者、は和英辞書で調べたらcriminalが出てきますね。
でも死刑を受けるようなおそらく殺人の話だとしたら、criminalであまり表現しないですね。killerやmurdererを使います。
