"so-"は「〜できるように」という意味です。
あるいはもう少しシンプルに、

2つ目の文では、rewordという言葉が使われています。これは、他の言葉に言い換えるという意味です。rewordは、フォーマルな場面でもインフォーマルな場面でも使うことができます。語彙に加えておくといいでしょう。

If you use these phrases after a tutor or teacher says something you cannot understand, they will know to change their words and the way they are explaining something to you.
