金木犀（キンモクセイ）は、fragrant olive で良いのでしょうか？
金木犀を知らない外国人に、秋になってどこからともなく金木犀の香りが漂ってくる感じを上手く伝えたいのです。宜しくお願いします。

金木犀はa fragrant oliveが一般的です。
osmanthusという学名がありますが、口語的に会話に使用されるのはfragrant oliveですね。
[ひまわり](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/33168/)はSunflowerと呼ばれますが、学名は、Helianthus annuusとあるけれど、
やっぱりひまわりが[きれい](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/32813/)ね！というときにはSunflowerというのと同じ感覚です。

Where I'm from in Texas, we have a type of 金木犀 that we call \"sweet olive.\" They tend to bloom from early fall all the way into spring. You can use it like this:
 
 - It smells like sweet olive, it must be fall!
 - The smell of sweet olive reminds me of the fall.
 - In Japan, the smell of the sweet olive tree means that fall has arrived.
 
 There are a few other names for the same plant:
 - Tea olive.
 - Fragrant olive.
 
 You can use all of these interchangeably. ^^
