下の者から先に挨拶すべきとか考えず、自分の方が立場が上であっても自分が先に挨拶したほうがラク。

この場合、次のような言い方をしたら自然で良いかなと思います。

ーIt's easier for me to just say hi to someone first without having to worry about who should greet who first.
「誰が誰に先に挨拶するかを気にしないで、自分から挨拶したほうが楽」
who should greet who first「誰が誰に先に挨拶するべきか」

後半部分をもう少し日本語に近いように言うなら次のようにも言えます。
...without having to feel like the subordinate should say hi to their superior first
「部下から先に上司に挨拶しなければいけないと感じることなく」

It's easier to just greet them first without worrying about who's supposed to.
I find it much simpler to say hello first, regardless of rank or position.
