Weight and Mass are words that are used to describe how heavy a person is.
Mass is a more scientific term, and may be used more by doctors when measuring a persons weight.

The two sentences you see above are common ways to express that someone is overweight. In the first sentence you will see the word heavy and in the second sentence you will see the word large. Although both of these adjectives have different meanings, in these sentences they both mean overweight.
The best way to describe how heavy someone is, is to use the word ‘weight’, e.g. ‘his weight is ...’. We might also use the words ‘overweight’ (to show someone is heavier than is healthy for them) or ‘underweight’ (to show that someone is thinner/lighter than is healthy for them). BMI, or body mass index, is a medical measurement of someone’s mass and weight.
