I'm sorry (that) ... で「... のことですみません」という意味ですが、「...」には文を入れることができます。今回の場合は、「自分のミスのせいで出席できなかった」という主旨ですので、「欠席しないといけなかった」を表す I had to miss your class/lesson という表現を使いました。
