You use "Waiter" for men and "Waitress" for women. This is just someone who waits on your or comes to your table to take your order.
Or you can say "Server" this applies to both men and women. Server carries the same meaning as waiter/waitress that someone is coming to wait on your or serve you at your table.
The word "waiter" is usually used for a male server at a restaurant and "waitress" is the female equivalent of that. However, "waitron" is a gender neutral term used for both males and females.
E.g. The waitron was very nice and I tipped them $20 for being attentive.
The waiter was very nice and I tipped him $20 for being attentive.

The three nouns you see above are common words we use to describe a person that brings us our food at a restaurant. The second word, waiter, is when the person is male. The third word, waitress, is when the person is female. The first word, server, is appropriate for either a male or a female.
In British English, spoken by most countries outside of North America, the terms "waiter" and "waitress" are used.
"Waiter" refers to a male, whereas "waitress" refers to a female.
However, in The US these terms are no longer widely considered appropriate, especially amongst the younger generations. Instead, jobs which have different titles for men compared to women have been reassigned gender neutral titles. Therefore, in American English "server" is the acceptable term.
