「先にお待ちのお客様はどちらですか?」と聞きたい時
Which party was first? ということができます。
グループ/お客様のことを指すときは Party といいます。
例えば、客が一人の場合でも party of one,
客が二人だったら Party of two といいます。
よくレストランで聞かれるのは:
-How many are in your party?「お客様のグループには何人がいますか?」
- Five. 「五人です。」
- Party of five, this way please. 「五人様ですね、こちらへ」
という風に使います。
Both of these phrases will let the customers know that you are wondering which group got there first because you are trying to seat them in order of arrival. The usage of the words party or group are interchangeable, both meaning the separate customer groups.
When two groups of people arrive more or less simultaneously, it may not be s straightforward thing to identify the first arrivals. A general question "Who arrived first?" will inevitably lead to someone either identifying themself, or pointing a finger in the direction of another person. In the event of an argument, call security!
I will seat the group that arrived first now and then I will seat the second party.
Which part arrived first? I will seat you now then I can seat the second party.
"I will seat the group that arrived first now and then I will seat the second party."This way the first group can identify themselves for you to seat them.
"Which part arrived first? I will seat you now then I can seat the second party." Here you are asking the first group to identify themselves so that you can seat them.
"I will seat the group that arrived first now and then I will seat the second party."
先に着いたグループを先に案内し、そのあと次のグループを案内します。
これは、先に着いたグループを先に案内することを伝える表現です。
"Which part arrived first? I will seat you now then I can seat the second party."
どちらのグループが先に着きましたか?先に案内し、次のグループはそのあとに案内します。
先のグループの席が用意できたことを伝える表現です。
When you're in the service industry, it's important to be polite. So you can ask in the following ways:
-Which of you got here first?
-I'd like to know which party was here first, so I can get you a table.
Remember that the tone of voice is also important in this instance.
サービス業の場合、丁寧に接客することが重要ですので、次のように聞くことができます:
-Which of you got here first?(先にこちら来た(=先にお待ちの)お客様はどちらですか?)
-I'd like to know which party was here first, so I can get you a table.(先にお待ちのお客様はどなたか教えていただけますか。テーブルへご案内いたします。)
声のトーンもこの例では重要なことを忘れないでください。
Two versions of the same thing. First asking you to volunteer information about arrival times. Second has different wording but same general idea. Instead of asking who arrived first the question used is who has waited the longest
