standは「立つですが」、stand aboutは「つっ立つ」と言った感じです。時間を持て余していれその辺をうろついてる程度の姿勢です。
idle＝暇、何もしていない状態
日本語でも車のアイドリング、と言う時に使う言葉です。
idleやidlyと言った言葉が思い出せない場合はdo not stand aboutの後を：
looking bored＝暇そうにして
chatting with each other＝互いでおしゃべりする
に替えてもいいでしょう。

to lean over で「…に寄りかかる」
to chat with ... で「…とおしゃべりする」
