既に先の回答者様がアドバイスされている通りですが
上記のような表現もありますので、紹介します。
central は「中心の」ということですが、main や important という
ニュアンスです。中心に来る＝大事である、という感じですね。
例えば、
Simplicity is central to Tuscan cuisine.
*Tuscan cuisine: トスカニー料理（イタリアのある地域）
というように使えます。
食事以外でも、
Goal setting is central to happiness
「目標設定が幸福にとって大事である」
Hard work is central to success.
「勤勉さが、成功にとって・・・」
などと幅広く応用がききます。
