Both of these answers are formal enough to be used within a business email, and both answers can be expanded. For example - "I would like to apologise for my late reply, as I was checking all of the details were correct."
"Sorry for not replying straight away but I did not want to give you the wrong address."
'Straight away' is the same as 'immediately'.
"I would like to apologise for my late reply, as I was checking all of the details were correct."
"Sorry for not replying straight away but I did not want to give you the wrong address."
If you take some time to respond to an email, then you may give an explanation as to why you were delayed. This is quite often due to the normal working process or procedure. You may choose to apologise, although personally speaking, an apology should only be made if you have done something incorrectly.
"This email response has taken some time to prepare as I was gathering all the facts in order to give you a clear answer." With this explanation, you do not need to add an apology.
"This email response has taken some time to prepare as I was gathering all the facts in order to give you a clear answer."
Thank you for your patience in waiting for my reply
Apologies for the late reply
Please accept my belated response
1.
By thanking someone for patience in waiting for you to reply you help turn a possibly negative feeling towards you into a positive feeling of kindness and charity on behalf of the person expecting a reply. This goes a long way into relieving any tensions for tardiness on your part.
2.
Apologizing up front for lateness for something, whether it is justified or not helps the recipient know that you take responsibility for your lateness.
3.
When we are late in doing something we can use the word belated. This is also an acknowledgement for replying to, or doing something later than the person expected. For example, when you have missed someone's birthday, you can say "a belated happy birthday".
Examples: " Thank you for your patience in waiting for my reply, as I was checking all my facts before clicking the send button."
"Apologies for the late reply, but I wasn't sure I had adequately answered your questions yet."
"Please accept my belated response to your email, I was proof reading my email before sending it."
"Thank you for your patience in waiting for my reply, as I was checking all my facts before clicking the send button."
"Apologies for the late reply, but I wasn't sure I had adequately answered your questions yet."
"Please accept my belated response to your email, I was proof reading my email before sending it."

The two sentences you see provided above are excellent ways to express to your listener that you are sorry for replying to them late. In the second sentence you will see the term behind time. This means late. This term is commonly used in our everyday conversation, like talking with close friends or family. It would make a great addition to your vocabulary.
入れると、「I deeply apologize for the delay.」になります。「Thank you for your patience.」 「Thank you very much for your patience.」になります。
"I am sorry for the delayed response".
"I am sorry for the delayed response. I have seen your email but could not respond earlier as I wanted to double check on the details"
