交渉などで、水掛け論を避けたい時に使いたい表現です。

水掛け論は「he said she said argument」と言います。 契約交渉では、確かに文字で起こさないと水掛け論になり兼ねますので、そう言う時は「I don't want this to descend into a he said she said argument, so let's keep meticulous minutes of each meeting」などと言うといいと思います。 ここで言う「minutes」は議事録のことです。
