In Japan you would say "gakureki" to refer to ones educational history. In English you could anything alone the lines of, "Education background", "Educational achievements" or "Academic background". All three of these would refer to the background of an individual. Examples could be: High school education, undergraduate education, postgraduate education or Doctorate's.

For instance, this is where the term "GPA" or "Grade Point Average" comes from. You could also ask about their Academic Experience. This is asking about what kind of education they have participated in both as a student or as a teacher.

We don't really have a specific word just for this. We would usually say "academic background" or "educational background". 'Background' is used in a lot of contexts, simply referring to ones past. If someone asked 'what kind of background does a student have' they may be asking about their upbringing. If someone asks about someones 'background' in a work scenario, it's usually about someones education or work experience. Both 'academic' and 'educational' are appropriate here, neither one is better than the other.
