derail という動詞が「線路から外れる」という意味を持ちます。
a derailed train で線路から外れた電車、derailment で（電車の）脱線を言います。
話題が脱線する（それる）と言いたい時は derail/derailment ではなく sidetracked が使えます。
例）「昨日山手線が脱線した」The Yamanote Line derailed yesterday.
「電車の脱線で運休している」The train operation is canceled due to the derailment.
