「〜中です」という言い方は、状況にもよりますが、
I'm in the middle of ~ing
I'm in the process of ~ing
を使って言えます。
in the middle of や in the process of の部分が「〜している最中」という部分に当たりますが、これらを使わないほうが自然な場合も多くあります。
I'm in the middle of checking on that right now.
「それを確認中です。」
= I'm checking on that right now. とも言えます。
I'm using the printer at the moment.
「プリンターを使用中です。」
ここでは in the middle of や in the process of を使わないほうが自然に聞こえます。
