  • Please turn down the air-conditioner.

「Please turn down the air-conditioner (冷房を弱くして下さい)」。 これは、冷房の出力を低くする、または温度を上げるように求める表現です。'Turn down'とは実際にはボリュームを下げる感覚から来ていますが、暖房や冷房、音楽などの'強さ'や'パワー'を抑えるときにも使われます。そして、'Please turn down the heater.'は「暖房を弱くして下さい」という意味になります。 しかし、注意しなければならないのは、「冷房が強すぎるので温度を上げてほしい」という場合に'Please turn up the air conditioner'と誤って言わないようにすることです。'Turn up'は物事を増やすまたは強くするために使われ、この文脈では間違った表現となる可能性があるからです。 例文: 1. "I feel a bit chilly. Could you please turn down the air-conditioner?" (ちょっと寒いです。冷房を弱くしていただけますか?) 2. "This place feels too cold. Could we turn down the air-conditioner a bit?" (ここ、寒すぎます。冷房を少し弱くできますか?)"

  • Can you raise the temperature a bit?

  • Aren't you cold?

"Can you raise the temperature a bit?" This is a direct way to ask someone to raise the temperature, but by adding "a bit' you can make it more polite and softer. "Aren't you cold?" This is a indirect way to ask someone to raise the temperature, since you are not asking them to do something, but letting the person know you feel cold and uncomfortable. If the person responds with something like "I'm fine", then i suggest saying "can you raise the temperature a bit?"
"Can you raise the temperature a bit?" (少し温度を上げてもらえますか?) 冷房を弱くしてもらうようにお願いする直接的な表現です。 "a bit' (少しだけ)という言葉を添えることで幾らか丁寧で柔らかい響きになります。 "Aren't you cold?" (寒くないですか?) 室温をあげるよう直接的にお願いする表現です。 何かアクションを起こすようにお願いしている訳ではありませんが、あなたは寒くて不快に感じていることを伝えています。 もし相手が "I'm fine"(私は大丈夫だよ。)といった答え方をするならば、 "can you raise the temperature a bit?"(少し温度を上げてもらえますか?)とお願いできるでしょう。

  • Please turn down the air conditioner.

冷房を弱くする(冷房を下げる)は「turn down the air conditioner」と言います。逆に暑いので冷房を強くしてほしいときは「turn up the air conditioner」です。 ちなみに「エアコン」「クーラー」は和製英語なので英語では使いません。「air conditioner」と言う必要があります。ご参考にしていただければ幸いです。

  • "Please can you turn down the AC?"

  • "Please can you turn down the air conditioning?"

The acronym of air conditioning is AC, often written as A/C. In places where English is the native language or commonly spoken, and where it is often hot, the term AC is frequently used to refer to air conditioning units. If you are in a country where English is not widely used, the abbreviation A/C may not be widely known, so in that case, use the second example and say the complete words 'air conditioning'. By adding the pronoun 'please' as a prefix, you are asking politely and using good manners. This is especially important in a public setting, such as a restaurant.
air conditioning(クーラー)の省略をACと言い、しばしば A/Cと表記されます。英語を母語として話されていて、暑い国では、ACをクーラーの意味でよく使われます。 英語が広く使われていない国では、A/Cはあまり知られていないかもしれないので、二つ目の例文のように 'air conditioning'を使うといいでしょう。 文の頭にpleaseを付け加えることで、丁寧に、マナーよく尋ねる文となります。レストランなどの公共の場ではこのように聞くのをお勧めします。

  • May you please turn down the air condition?

  • Would you mind turning up the temperature a bit?

By asking "May you please turn down the air condition?" you are letting them know that it is too cold and the pressure from the air condition is uncomfortable for you. It is a polite way of asking, along with saying "Would you mind turning up the temperature a bit?" since you are specifically letting them know that it is too cold, and you would like it to be warmer in the office at work.
例:May you please turn down the air condition? 「冷房を弱くしてもらえませんか?」 例:Would you mind turning up the temperature a bit? 「少し温度を上げていただけますか?」 例文の表現で、相手にエアコンのせいで部屋が寒すぎることを伝えられます。 上記の例は丁寧に問いかけるものです。"would"と"may"を使っていますよね。 例文二つ目は、言い換えです。 「部屋の温度を上げてください。」は「冷房を弱くしてください。」と同意ですよね。

  • Turn down the air con ...

  • It was like being in a fridge at the restuarant...I asked them to turn down the air-con!

Ideal body temperature in a hot climate...is a very subjective thing;-)) I often find its is just "too cold for comfort" when I step into an air conditioned room. This can mean, I have then to ask if they can "Please turn down the aircon?!"

  • Please reduce the cold temperature on the air conditioner because it is too cold.

  • Will you please reduce the cold temperature on the air conditioner. It is freezing in here.

Sometimes it may be appropriate to be precise when requesting something from somebody to avoid misunderstanding. So, if you say, "please reduce the cold temperature", you are being succinct. He/she will do exactly that. Just in case that was not understandable enough, you added, "on the air conditioner" and then you made it even clearer by stating the reason, "because it is too cold". You may call it 'freezing' when the temperature is below 0°C. So, if you do find yourself in such a restaurant, you may say: Please reduce the cold temperature on the air conditioner because it is too cold. or Will you please reduce the cold temperature on the air conditioner. It is freezing in here.
時々、お願い事などをする時、誤解を避けるために、明確にお願いすることが適切ですよね。 ですので、 "please reduce the cold temperature" (温度を弱くしてください) とあなたが言うと、これはとても簡潔です。 相手は言われた通りにしてくれるでしょう。 でも、もし十分に理解してもらえなかった場合は、念のために次のように付け加えるといいでしょう。 "on the air conditioner" (エアコンの) そしてもう少し明確にさせるために次のように理由も述べるといいでしょう。 "because it is too cold" (寒すぎるので) 氷点下の場合 'freezing'(凍えそう)と言う事も出来ます。 ですので、レストランでそのような場合は、次のように表現することが出来ます。 "Please reduce the cold temperature on the air conditioner because it is too cold." (寒すぎるのでエアコンの温度を弱くしてください) 又は "Will you please reduce the cold temperature on the air conditioner. It is freezing in here." (エアコンの温度を弱くしてください。ここは寒すぎます)

  • It's freezing in here can you increase the temperature please

"It's freezing" is a common expression used whenever we are in a cold place. It doesn't actually have to be sub zero temperatures. The temperature only needs to feel cold to us. It could be 20degrees and we might still use the word freezing. In this sentence 'freezing' is used to emphasis that we feel extreme cold.
"It's freezing" (凍えそうに寒い)は寒いところなどでは、よく使われる表現です。 これは実際に気温が氷点下である必要はありません。 私たちが寒いと感じる気温でいいのです。 これは20℃でも "freezing"(凍る)と言う言葉を使います。 表現の中の 'freezing'はすごく寒いという気持ちを強調しています。

  • Could you turn down the air conditioner please?

  • The AC is a little cold, could you turn the temperature up please?

"Could you turn down the air conditioner please? " is a phrase to express that you would like the air conditioner to be turned down, which will make the temperature higher. In the USA the 'air conditioner' is usually only used to cool the air, so by asking for it to be 'turned down' it means that you would like it to be warmer in your environment. In the US we often refer to the 'air conditioner' as 'AC'. If you are looking for a way to specifically ask for a slightly less cold temperature to be coming from the air conditioner, a useful phrase is "The AC is a little cold, could you turn the temperature up please?"

  • Can you please turn the A/C down?

  • It is very cold. Do you mind turning the air conditioning off?

In most cases, it is better to ask if they can turn the air conditioning down. When it is very cold turning off the A/C could be the best solution. Either way asking politely if they can adjust the temperature can prove to be helpful.

  • Could you please raise the temperature of the air-conditioning?

  • It's very cold. Can you raise the temperature please?

  • Could you turn off the air-conditioning please?

If the temperature of the restaurant/shop/etc is too cold or hot then it is okay to request for the temperature to be changed, especially if you are spending a lot of time in that area. For example having dinner in a restaurant you would be there for at hour at least and you don't want to be too cold or hot for that long. As long as you are polite, most places don't mind changing the temperature.

An air conditioner is an electronic device that is used to cool the temperature down in a room, they can also be used to heat up the temperature in a room. • The air conditioning is too cold!

You are in a shop or restaurant and the air conditioning is too cold. You want to ask someone to adjust the temperature. In that scenario, any of the above example sentences will be fine. The second example is simply a statement and of course, the staff member will infer from that you wish the temperature to be adjusted.

  • Would you mind turning up the heat a bit?

  • Please be so kind as to turn down the aircon.

1. Would you mind turning up the heat a bit? This means that you are getting very cold and that you would like the temperature to be increased. "Turn up the heat" is also a figurative expression which means pressurizing someone to do something that they are refusing to do. Example: The investigators turned up the heat until he confessed to the crime. 2. Please be so kind as to turn down the aircon. To turn down the aircon means to raise the temperature or to switch it off completely."Aircon" is an abbreviation of the word air conditioner. Another popular word to use is AC.
