★ be doing

Should I prepare a meal for you this evening, or not?
Your wayward daughter is a little unpredictable these days as she quite often dines with her friends in the town or at someone's home. You are never sure how much food to cook for your family!
"Are you eating at home or eating out tonight?"
"I'm out tonight, thanks."
Or, a slightly more indirect way of asking is:
"Should I prepare a meal for you this evening, or not?"
"What are you making?"
"Shepherd's pie."
"That's my favourite! OK, I'll eat with you tonight!"
"Are you eating at home or eating out tonight?"
"I'm out tonight, thanks."
"Should I prepare a meal for you this evening, or not?"
"What are you making?"
"Shepherd's pie."
"That's my favourite! OK, I'll eat with you tonight!"
Are you coming home for dinner or are you eating out?
Will you be home in time for dinner?
Are you planning on eating dinner at home?
In the first sentence you will see the term eat out. This means we get our food at a restaurant or cafeteria instead of eating at home. In the second sentence you will see the term in time, which means not late. These two terms would be great additions to your vocabulary.
You can ask your daughter "are you eating at home tonight?"
Other variations on how to enquire whether your daughter will be joining you for dinner include:
"Will you be eating in this evening?"
"Are you having dinner with me at home tonight?"
"Will you be joining us for tea tonight?"
Are you eating at home tonight?(今夜、家でご飯食べる?)
Will you be eating in this evening?
Are you having dinner with me at home tonight?
Will you be joining us for tea tonight?
We can talk about, "eating out," or, "eating at home," to describe the two possibilities. We can also simply ask if they are going to eat at home without mentioning the opposite. Lastly we can talk about, "making it home," to express/ask if they are going to come to home for dinner as well.
