私の場合は、「呼びかける」ときの〝おっさん”、”おばさん”、という意味の表現を紹介します。
一つは〝Ｏｌｄ ｍａｎ！” という表現。呼びかける時によく聞く表現ですが、日本語と同じように礼儀はそこにありません。むしろ怒りを表現するなら最適かも。
同時に、〝He's an old man” （彼はおっさんだよ）という言い方もできますが、この場合でしたら本人を目の前にしていなければ特別に失礼な表現ということではありませんね。
女性なら、〝lady!” と呼びかけるだけで「おばさん！」というニュアンスになってしまいます。従って事前に知っておきたいところですね。
単なる話題の中で〝おっさん” とか〝おばさん” と言うなら、〝a guy in his thirties” （３０代のおっさん）とか、〝a lady in her sixties”（６０代のおばさん）というニュアンスで表現するのが最も多いのかな？と思います。

呼びかけではなく、「変なおっさんがこっちを見てた」とか、「電車の中でおばさんが携帯で話してた」のように使う場合は、old man、old ladyがニュアンスとして一番近いかと思います。
ladyは、他の方も書いているように、それだけでおばさんのイメージがあります。
これは、イギリス英語の場合また違います。
イギリスでは普通に、She's a nice lady.（彼女は素敵な人だ）のように、ladyをwomanと同じ意味合いで使います。
アメリカでは、ladyにはおばさんっぽい、ちょっとネガティブなイメージがあるので使う時には注意しましょう。
間違っても妙齢の女性に「Hello, lady」なんて挨拶しないように(笑)

"Older guy" is used by young people like myself whenever we are talking about somebody who is 30 or above.
Middle aged person is probably better for somebody who is 40-50.
"older guy" は、若い人（私もそうですが）が30歳以上の人について言う場合に使われます。
40～50歳の人について言う場合は "middle aged person" のほうがいいでしょう。

シンガポールでは auntie（おばさん）と uncle（おじさん）という呼び方があります。
欧米では auntie と uncle の呼び方がなく、中年の人の総称が middle-aged です。例えば a middle aged man や a middle-aged woman です。日本語の「おっさん」と「おばさん」に当てはまるような呼び方はなかなかないような気がします。

30代から60代の人のことをold（年寄り）と言うのは失礼なので、 middle aged（中年）と言う方が礼儀正しいでしょう。
