単純に「何かが最高」ということを言いたいのであればやはり"the best"が良いと思います。「最高」ほどインパクトはありませんが、「非常に良い」という意味で"awesome" "wonderful" "great"なども使えます。

A: How was your trip to America? （アメリカ旅行どうだった？）
B: It was so much fun! （すごく楽しかった！）
America is the best!（アメリカ最高！）
*It was the best time ever.
*My trip to the US was the best thing ever.
