英語で「辛い」はhot、spicyで表現します。
hotはヒリヒリ、ピリピリ感じて
体や舌が熱くなる時に使います。
一方spicyは、香辛料や薬味がピリッときいた
料理を食べたときに使われることが多いです。
又その語の通り「スパイスが効いている」と
言いたいときにも使われます。
大まかに言って唐辛子を使ったピリ辛料理には
hot, 香辛料を効かせた料理にはspicyを
使うと良いです。

By using the question word "how," the waiter will provide you with a description of the dish that should help you to decide whether or not it will be spicy for you. Everyone has different perceptions about spiciness so if you ask them if the dish is spicy, it may not be for them but it might be for you. I hope that this helps! :)
"how" を使うと、ウェイターはその料理の辛さを説明してくれます。
辛さの感じ方というのは人それぞれなので、「この料理は辛いですか」という聞き方だと、相手にとっては辛くないけど自分にとっては辛いということが起こり得ます。

"Spicy" or "Hot" are used to refer to a meal or condiment (pepper, chili powder etc) is flavored with 'Spice'
'Spice' is the ingredient but to say if something has much 'Spice' is referred to as 'Spicy'
