  • Thank you for inviting me. But I have already made other plans, sorry.

相手の[気持ち](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/38645/)を害さずに答えるなら:「Thank you for inviting me. But I have already made other plans, sorry.」を推奨します。 なんでも残念な結末なら sorry を最後に入れるのが一般です。 よく、「海外では謝らない、謝ったら、責任を負うことになる」と言う人もいますが、これは一概にそうだとは限りません。

[誘ってくれてありがとう](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/74856/)でも予定があるんだ。 Thank you for inviting me, but I have prior plans.

When you want to thank for someone for inviting you somewhere but also inform them that you already have plans; then you can say it in the following ways: -Thanks for the invite but I've already made plans -Thank you for inviting me but I already have plans
誘ってくれたことに感謝しつつ、他に予定があることを伝えたいなら、以下のような言い方ができます: -Thanks for the invite but I've already made plans (誘ってくれてありがとう。でも、もう予定を入れてしまいました。) -Thank you for inviting me but I already have plans (誘ってくれてありがとう。でも予定があるんです。)

Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately I've already got something scheduled for that day. Explanation: "Thanks for the invite" is a common phrase people use before turning an event down, so it will prepare your friend for your rejection. Unfortunately, I've already got something going on, but thank you for inviting me. Explanation: Using "unfortunately" let's them know you're glad they invited you and you wish you could go, but will not be able to. I wish I could, but I've got something else happening then. Explanation: "I wish I could" tells your friend you are glad they invited you; it is only something out of your control stopping you from going.
Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately I've already got something scheduled for that day. (誘ってくれてありがとうございます、でも残念ながらその日は予定があります) 解説: "Thanks for the invite" は誘いを断るときによく使われるフレーズです。ですから、このように言うと相手は断られる心の準備ができます。 Unfortunately, I've already got something going on, but thank you for inviting me. (残念ながらもう予定が入ってしまっています。でも、誘ってくれてありがとうございます) 解説: "unfortunately" を使うと、誘ってくれてうれしいこと、そして、できれば行きたかったという気持ちを伝えることができます。 I wish I could, but I've got something else happening then. (行きたいですが、もう別の予定が入ってしまっています) 解説: "I wish I could" と言うと、誘ってくれてうれしいことが伝わります。またこれは、自分ではどうすることもできない理由で行くことができないことを表します。

  • I appreciate the invitation but I already made a commitment.

The two sentences you see provided above are excellent ways to express to your listener that you already have plans but you appreciate the invitation. In the second sentence you will see the noun commitment. If we made a commitment it means we made a promise. This word is appropriate for both formal and informal settings.
どちらの例を使っても、誘ってくれたことに感謝しつつ予定があることを伝えることができます。 二つ目の例には'commitment'という名詞が使われています。'made a commitment'で「約束をした」という意味になります。この単語はフォーマルな場面でもインフォーマルな場面でも使われます。
