実は我々この単語よくつかってるんですよ。

If the person is someone you know very well you could be more direct by giving a command saying "buckle up" or "put on your seatbelt".
If the person is not someone you know or you don't know very well it's better to use a formal and more polite question such as "would you mind buckling up?" or "could you please put on your seatbelt?".
