ざっくり２通りの言い方ができます。
まず一つ目の例文ですが、「私が英語を学びたい[理由](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/51867/)は・・・です」という言い方。
たとえば、
The reason why I want to study English is because I like to communicate with people from all over the world.
英語を[学びたい](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/51764/)と思ったのは、世界中の人とコミュニケーションすることが好きだからです。
二つ目の例文は、「・・・するために私は英語を学びたいのです」となります。
上記の例文をこの構文に書き換えると、次のようになります。
I want to study English to communicate with people from all over the world.
英語を学びたいと思ったきっかけとなるような、具体的なエピソードがあるのであれば、それを話してから最後に、That made me want to study English. （それで英語を学びたいと思うに至りました）と言えばいいでしょう。

why 以外では、what が使えます。
例えば、
What made you want to be a teacher?
「何があなたを教師になりたいと思わせたのですか？」
＝どうして教師になりたいと思ったのですか？
What made you want to come to Japan?
「何があなたを日本に来たいと思わせたのですか？」
＝どうして日本に来たいと思ったのですか?
といった使い方です。より、【きっかけ】にフォーカスして
尋ねていますね。
今回紹介したのは、上記のような疑問文ではなく
文の主語として、
What made me want to study English is ...
「私に英語を学びたいと思わせているものは・・・」
という意味です。この what は、the thing which に
そのまま置き換えることができるもので、
What made me want to study English is ...
⇒ The thing which made me want to study English is ...
「私に、英語を学びたいと思わせているもの」
※あくまでも理解の為の直訳ですので、繰り返しとなりますが
「なぜ英語を勉強したいかと言うと・・・」くらいの意味です。
という構造です。関係代名詞の what と言いますので
